Tattoo Aotearoa at the Auckland Writers and Readers Festival

Chris Hoult and Steve Forbes, authors of New Zealand Tattoo, delivered a well-attended presentation yesterday in the Auckland Art Gallery auditorium as part of the annual Writers and Readers Festival. In the Tattoo Aotearoa the pair displayed a host of photos from their travels around the tattoo parlours of New Zealand, including many as yet unpublished images, while backgrounding the book and profiling five of the artists featured. Steve also gave a brief history of tattooing in New Zealand, charting its progression from the margins of society to a mainstream art form today.
