Te Mana
The Henderson-based Te Whanau O Waipareira Trust launched their book Te Mana on Friday 17 August in a wonderful event at Hoani Waititi marae, Glen Eden.
The book honours the kaumatua (elders) who have taken the Trust into its current dynamic role.

Kura Toa at Bay of Islands College
An adaptation of Tim Tipene’s
novel Kura Toa was performed at Bay of Islands College last
week. The show that featured music and dancing drew large audiences and
enthusiastic response. Tim Tipene was also there to support the kids and
reports it being a wondeful experience.

Tim Tipene at Massey Primary School
Author Tim Tipene visited Massey Primary School yesterday to talk with students about bullying, teachers and writing - and of course to read a chapter out of his latest book, Bullies and Warriors. There was a great response from the audience as well as lots of laughts.

Bob Harvey talks on Karekare
Historian
and former Waitakere City mayor Bob Harvey will be talking later this month on
the history of surf lifesaving on one of Auckland's wildest and most
inspirational beaches, Karekare.
Bob
was the editor of our 2009 book, The Iron-Bound Coast: Karekare in the early
years, written by the late Wallace Badham.
The
talk on 21 August is hosted by the West Auckland Historical Society.
